The Modbo 4.0 Modchip compatible with PlayStation 2 enables you to play backups of your games on CD, DVD or DVD-9. The Modchips is compatible with all PlayStation 2 models with a version number between V5 and V16. The Modbo 4.0 is fully supported and currently manufactured alternative to other PS2 Modchips offering the exact same features. Please note that basic soldering skills are required in order to install the Modbo 4.0 Modchip. Besides the possibility to play backups of PlayStation 2 games Modbo 4.0 also enables you to play imports from PS2 and PS1 games. Imports play with the original resolution and also use the right colors. If you want to go online you can choose to use the stealth mode of the Modbo 4.0 in order to hide the modchip and don't risk a ban from the online services. Modbo also turns your PlayStation 2 into a full-fledged region free DVD Player that also has a disabled Macrovision protection. There is also the „green fix', so you won't have to change die AV-Cables. The Modchip works on all regional versions of the PS2 (V5 to V16).

Good Chip and Works Perfect

A lot of the chips for the PS2 systems just plain SUCK! I've gone through 3 different stores, each one sending me a chip that didn't work in my PS2 system (Slim model).. The ModBo 4.0 if the first chip that actually ended up working in my PS2 - because it really IS a universal chip - and not a chip designed for a single model of the ps2 system. If you're not sure which modchip you need, then get this one - it'll jus work!
One of the last places to find this modchip!

I thought i would be out of luck 'cause no matter where I looked, I could not find the modbo mod chips any more. I know they're not a current item, but I was so happy to find it here so that I could buy it for my PS2. Received the chip (with free wires - thanks!!!!) and had it installed in 30 minutes and everything is working as advertised!
So I got home and plugged everything in and hit power expecting nothing but I was wrong. The ps2 was fully functional with some caveats. The disc spindle sometimes doesn't grab the disc correctly and the multi video out jack sometimes needs a wiggle to get rid of interference. I will address both problems in the future. I gave her a good clean since she was full of dog hair and a dead fly. I joked to a friend that I literally debugged a game console.
Attaining a second slim ps2 (my first was a silver model 90000) has prompted me to dig out a modbo 4.0 modchip I purchased around two years ago for $4 off dealextreme but didn't have the courage to install on my only system. But now I have a cheap practice system so I had little to lose. First I downloaded installation diagrams for my model with the help of google images.
